Keeping an eye on their combs and wattles is the easiest way to tell. Also the girls should have better lacing especially across their backs...the boys will more "streaky".

Alright I have had this thought for some time and I figured today I would type it out and see what others might think about it. I am not saying its right or wrong, just a thought about Show stock and hatchery stock.
Ok, well we know that hatchery stock is not of the greatest quality at times when it comes to type, sometimes the color is decent but what they do lack in type and color is off set by their fertility and laying ability. We know that show stock doesnt have the greatest fertility and egg laying is severly lacking in many breeds but they do have the exceptional type and color.
Well here is my hypothesis. What if you were to take the best type and color hatchery birds and breed them to your best exhibition stock? I realize you will lose some type and color but at the same time will you not gain greater fertility and egg laying ability? Say you find a young vigorous SL Cockerel from exhibition stock and put him with several of your best looking hatchery SL females would you not thusly improve the breed by including exhibition qualities back into a true dual-purpose breed? Would you not get better looking females from that cross that would lay much better than exhibition stock currently does? You could do the same cross with a decent looking hatchery SL and your best exhibition SL females.
Just a thought about incorporating the best of both of these breeds, utilizing their best traits to improve the breed where you can have both a dual-purpose breed but with exhibition quality.
Someone may have already tried this but it has been on my mind for a while and wanted to see what anyone else thought about it. It might be a colossal waste of time without any benefit but if it would work it could greatly add to the breeds appeal to many breeders I think.

OH THESE WYANDOTTES ARE GORGOUS! I have three GLW chicks, about three weeks old now. Too pullets and a cockerel.....I can't wait to see them as adults!

Thanks for sharing all the wonderful pics!

A quick question about BLRW chicks.
Is there any way to tell what color the adult BLRW will be based on it's coloring as a chick? I'm noticing some hatch out darker than others. Thanks for your answers.

Thanks everyone for helping out! Now I will have to go stare them all down. I love it when they stare me down back! I will try and pay close attention to those combs. They get to looking all the same to me and then I second guess myself four times--then give up.

Mine are the BLRW so I won't really be able to tell the lacing as much as the SLW or GLW right? I have always wanted some of the SLW! They are beautiful.

OK, because I know people don't blacklist you for posting pictures here

I'm attaching several of my GLW chicks - two weeks old in these pix. They're so much fun. They're running and flying all over the place (well, sort of hopping and flapping in fits and spurts). Only minor problem we had was some tail pecking - but changed to the red heat lamp and blocked off the windows so there's no natural light at the moment and this seems to have stopped. I guess I have vampire chickens. Is this a growing phase thing they get over?

OK, here are pix...

Fun and games with the siblings (who knew a stick and a box could be so much fun??)

I'm thinking this one's a hen (if the feather theory holds true)...

... and this one's a boy (again, based on the feathering theory)

On the hunt for... something... I guess...

Looks like she's saying I BEG YOUR PARDON!!

They just crack me up. "Watcha doin? Watcha got? Whatcha doin???"

"No, you CANNOT eat all the food!!!"

These just crack me up, too. They play hard, then they just crash. "Can't. Keep. Eyes. Open. Zzzzzzz...."

OK, I'll leave you all alone now. Just had to share.

I LOVE your story lines KDH - you have me laughing over here. Your GLW are precious. I can't believe I can say this ... but "I remember when mine were that little" ... he he he. They grow so fast so have fun!!!
