Which breeder is she from?

She and my 2 Blue-laced roos are from a local gal in the Yelm, WA area - -

I think she told me what lines they were but I was soooooo dang excited to get my chicks that day that I don't remember what she said! LOL!

Will have to find out tho as it would be good to know - - I am keeping a roo and hope to have chicks next spring -​

Me too! Post pictures of your roos and I will do the same for comparison!

The coloring of your chicks looks exactly like my EE's but the color is all that looks like my EE's. Pretty birds you have there. I love the wyandotes

Thanks for the comments on chicks.. overall people are agreeing this much barring is "unusual". Guess that's not good news.

How about pencilled? Do they match pencilled chicks? Side thought- has there ever been an attempt at blue pencilled reds?

Another thing to thank respondents for- did not realize their base color is too light. Now that's been mentioned, totally can see their color IS very "orangy".

How about pictures or tips on selecting chicks to keep and raise out and which ones to cull ASAP. I would like to see how a proper laced bird looks like as a chick.. Also good colors on BLR?

Kev While that is alot of barring on your chicks, in my flock the barring at that age has indicated that they will be pullets.
The blue color in your chicks is light because they are splash chicks and I believe Katy was just saying that if you breed splash to splash the blue will get lighter and lighter in a blue blrw. Gets confusing I know! Its best to breed blue to blue to maintain a nice deep blue color but you will still get splash, blue and black out of a blue to blue mating.

Never cull blrw chicks too soon. You will be amazed at how their feathering changes! They take a long time to mature. The adult feathers on your chicks could still come in very dark in the red.

I don't know about pencilled wyandottes.

I agree that you really can't cull wyandotte chicks early...unless it's for incorrect comb type. They are a slow maturing breed and it takes many months before you can really make a call on how they'll turn out.

Janie is right, I was referring to their light blue coloring, more than the "red" shade that they've got now.
