The Wyandotte Thread

Thank you Flower, I am going to try and play around when my 4 yr old isn't climbing on me like I am a human jungle gym. I LOVE all of these pix on this thread. I marvel at the brilliant colors.

Here are some updated photos of my only pullet out of 11 chicks I got this spring. Let me know what you think. She is about 13 weeks or so.

Are wyandottes slower to mature than other breeds? We have one SLW (hopefully) pullet about a week old and she isn't feathering in nearly as fast as the other chicks (SS, EE, and leghorn). All of my other chicks have a lot of wing feathers, hers are still very short. It's starting to concern me just a little since Gertrude is a horrible name for a rooster.

Yes wyandottes are a slower maturing breed. Time will tell, but my roos generally are the ones who don't feather in as fast as the pullets so you may have to be changing the name.

What a beauty! I have a BLRW pullet, about 7 weeks old now. I hope she turns out as pretty as yours.

Thanks for the comments, everyone and I did check out your photos Kimbalaya. I think your BLRW is shaping up. And I do think that your Ameraucanas are for sure EE's. I have Ameraucanas and EE's and they resemble the EE's. Nonetheless they are great birds. I plan on putting my EE's with my Ameraucana roo and making more EE's, along with some more Ameraucanas! There is an Ameraucana Thread that is nice as well as an EE thread that was interested in photos of "chicks to adults" photos. The variety is amazing! They all start out looking like chipmunks, but...

Here's a link to what my EE's look like now.

Hi it's me again- was the one who had the "unusually barred" BLR cockerels.

Happened to have a chance at another pair of better looking(?) cockerels and took them.. Would like to know if they look promising- criticisms very welcome. I need to learn. It is okay with me both are splash, blacks or blues haven't been available.
