If they are larger then you probably get more meat from them which in a way makes them more productive.
Not sure how one would rate laying capibilities based on looks. Liked the buff & columbian shots.

There is a way I learned once by seeing the space between the pelvic and vent bones you can get a rough estimate of how well a hen will lay or if she is in lay.

Yes, that is a way to tell if she's laying, but I don't think just looking at a hen in a cage at a show you can probably tell anything about how productive she is.

Ok everyone I really need help with these chicks. I have 4 BLRW Bantams, I cannot tell what they are! They are 9 weeks old now. Boys or girls? And how can you tell? THANK YOU!!!

i want wyandottes... i wish there was a local breeder in LA...

ther are a couple shows down i southern cal... there is one in victorville(fall), Ventura(fall and spring), Paso Robles(Fall) and also a january show in hollister... if you want to see lots of chickens in California... come to PPBA in stockton,ca. its the biggest show in CA.​

Long time no post!

My 8 month old splash wyandotte, Butternut just started laying this past week, and has laid 4 eggs so far! Boy are they small compared to my Brahma lol

and she is SO loud with the egg song, it's really funny.

I rehomed my blue wyandotte to a larger flock with roosters (she was picking on my EE and splash wyandotte) so hopefully Phoebe will have a nice new home with a nice new man

Here are some updated pictures of Butternut, she has the prettiest green eyes!

And she has two BLUE tail feathers, the color blue the BLR are supposed to be

only two tail feathers, and I think the top halves of the feathers are blue, so odd!

Here is her first egg! My hands are SMALL, so the egg is not that big really hehe

Butternut is so sweet, a total lap chicken and loves being talked to. Hehe.
