The Wyandotte Thread

Mrs. Turbo :

Ok...back to Wyandottes.....

Is anyone going to Crossroads this year? Hope there is a big turn out for Wyandottes and it would be nice to get a group together to show the BLRWs. That is one way to get people interested in working with them and getting them ready for the APA.

I have my room reserved for Crossroads! I'm still waiting for my BLR girls to fill out. Are they generally a little slower? I'm used to waiting for the Giants and the Brahmas, but not sure about the other breeds. This is my first year with them.

Still trying to figure out how to haul all the cages filled w/ LF, and still leave room for cages to be filled and bring home!

Or you can marry a girl who loves chickens.....but then you end up like me and have birds all over the place, not to mention when we get in "friendly disagreements of breeding pens"....I have come home to find she switched my roosters around in breeding pens before.....

I dont show much in the spring, it seems to throw my breeding pens off....I will probably go to Kentuckiana...are you going to that Indiana Show that is in the early spring? Cant remember the name of it...White River?

You should get rid of those Whites and come over to the good side of colored wyandottes.....LOL.

That's the Gateway Poultry Show and its up in the air whether or not they are having it. the first show in Indiana might not be until May. That one is in Columbus, Indiana-Feathered Friends Poultry Club show.

Can't help you there because we will have 3-4 kids too....LOL
Just a heads up though....there is nothing romantic about a chicken show.

But, my Hubby and I do enjoy chicken TV with a little wine in the summer...bit tougher now with the cold and snow. I do love these darn birds. They are so friendly, I had one sleep by me today when I spent "quality" time with them.

I always go to that show. It is GATEWAY in Bloomington, in April. I didn't know they were talking about not having it. I hardly ever have anything in condition at that time of year either. I historically haven't done real well there. Just bad timing for me.
As for getting a colored variety of Wyandottes...I had most of them at one time. If I was going to get another color it would be columbian or silver penciled. Don Monke is coming along quite nicely with his Columbians. I have not seen his males, but his females are pretty good. Size is great and color is improving.

Well, we had planned a nice enjoyable weekend at Shawnee. Just Catherine and me. NO KIDS! Suite at the Holiday Inn......then something came up and Catherine ahd to stay home. I got stuck with Jacob! For those who met Jacob, you know what I mean. 7 years of total excitement! We did have fun. He was even nice and polite at the banquet.

Question? Isn't Mrs. Turbo on this thread? Guess Turbo just went on a diet!

Well, to Jon's credit, he does have faverolles and dark brown leghorns and a few other things, but we'll get him back on track...

I'm planning on going to Crossroads. Maybe I can get the family to go along. That would be nice, but the likelihood seems small

We could always just kidnap him, brainwash him...and then kick him loose with some Partridge and SLW....sounds like a plan. I dont even think that is illegal in Indiana..
