I gave them supervised freerange time today. The sun's starting to set, and the made a big cuddle puddle while they took a dirt bath they're the cutest

My girls love their time outside, and they too spend most of it dust bathing! Do you have a chicken tractor you put them in, or do you just monitor their time outside?

They have a covered run I made out of a dog kennel. Yesterday was their first time out, but later in the day I was talking to somebody in another thread who said because I'm in the Newcastle quarantine zone here in CA, I can't let them out of their run :/ Bums me out because they were having so much fun.

How frustrating! My girls would hate to be inside every day. maybe if you can put a screen door on their coop door you can open the coop door for them (thats what we do on rainy/very crappy days)

I'll have to take a pic, but they have 64 square feet in their run and 16 square feet in the coop. The run is covered in hardware cloth with one half topped by a blue tarp for shade and rain protection. Mostly, the run is kind of boring. I don't have any plants growing in there, and one thing I noticed is they really enjoyed climbing around on an ancient Manzanita outside of the run when I let them out. I think I'll have to put in some plants once all the supplies for the run and coop rebuild are shipped.
