i brought a 8 bird coop and built it on friday and by sunday i had 2 hens ,plimouth rock and a speckledy(the speckeldy is a hybrid) and iv named them doris ethle and wings(i picked wings because she enjoyes haveing her wings stroked.your names are good too.

We now have 6 hens:

French Copper Marans - Big Karla
Rhode Island Red - Ashley aka Big Red
Barred Plymouth Rock - Samantha aka Spot
White Leghorn - Kathy aka Whitey
2 Red Sex Links (we think) - Flora and Dora

The two new hens, Flora and Dora were originally called Samantha and Carla by their previous owner - but we already had a Samantha and a Karla! Besides, the new girls are just a-Dora-ble!

We started last year with six chicks, all named for Dr Who companions:RIR Amy, GSL Rose, Australorp Martha, SLWyandotte River, what turned out to not be a cuckoo Marans named Dona(small, cuckoo coloration, lays small white eggs), and what should have been a speckled Sussex but turned out to be another SLW who ended up with the unfortunate moniker of Megatron(blame my daughter). Dona and Megatron went off to live at the egg co-op when the coop got to crowded. Megatron promptly escaped and was eaten by an owl.
This year we have four little chickies in the brooder. We are only keeping two, the other two will once again go live on the co-op. Two EEs tentatively named Penny(from Dr Horrible's Sing Along Blog) and Kaylee(from Firefly), and two Wellsumers, named Zoe(also from Firefly) and Buffy(from, you guessed it, Buffy the Vampire Slayer). All Josh Whedon heroines.
