I had wanted to name one of my bantam cochin Towanda, but she looked more like a Gretchen. My birchen cochin is Hilda, and they both look like plump liittle german women.
When my DH built my coop, I told him exactly what to do....now, a year later, and I am still rennovating it to better utilize the space for roosting. And I had to reconfigure the roosts to stop the pooping in the nest boxes. My father and I then built a shelf above the boxes with a roosting bar over the shelf, and thatg has helped immensely.
Then I've been trying to deal with the run/ rain/ mud/ poop issue. Started with dirt, then mulch. Have small rocks in there now, but I think I will take those out and try sand.
Its all a learning process. The next coop/ run I am planning will address more of these issues, but im sure I will still find ways to need to improve it. The neverending work in progress.
