There is a WILD TURKEY in my yard!

I had to show this to my husband, just for fun, because it drives him crazy, since he took vacation days from work for the spring turkey hunting season and did not see ONE bird!

(He did get a big gobbler in February, though.) All our friends in New England, especially Massachusetts, seem to be overrun with wild turkeys!

I didn't realize there were places on the east side of the U.S. where wild turkeys were really rare. Here in Michigan, they're extremely commonplace and I see them all the time. (Of course, I also freaked out the first time I saw a mockingbird wild in Florida...this year. Ha ha!

)

walked right by me like I wasn't even there.

Lmfao, I LOVE wild turkeys, when I rode at the first horse stable I went to... we stayed there for like 5 years, anyway we had bought a horse by this time, and boarded him there, I was tacking him up in the aisle ahaha, and since it's wild turkey country, you expect them, but LMFAO this HUGE wild turkey flew/jumped up at the end of the aisle just above the dutch door, gobbling, flapping it's wings, and then down, and then up again in the same fashion, and my horse was LITERALLY, like this O____________O

We have them all over the place here too. A couple of winters ago, we had about 40 of them in our back yard and something spooked them and they all took to flight! Now THAT is a site!!!!

Great pics. MissPrissy I'm surprised you never see turkeys in your neck of Va. We have a Tom and 8 hens who we see very often in our backyard near the woods. Of course it's too far away to ever get a good photo.

I agree, it looks like a young hen. You will probably see it again, especially if you put out some corn or grain. We have them all over. My dads other farm has flocks of 50+. I love to hear people say wild turkeys dont fly....Im glad I didnt hear it here. My son says 'No they dont fly, they climb those trees"
