There is something strange going on

after our barred rock roo passed we decided to diswenfect the cage and wash the hens off then wait a month to put one of my silkies in there. We ended up putting them in the cage where my white silkie used to be before she was killed. Well I took miracle and put him in with the barred rocks. After a week he died. What is going on? The old cage is where my 3 silkie roos are and no deaths as of over 2 months. He was only a year old. Also one of our dogs killed a baby buff orp to and that just broke my heart. They are the sweetest. Mine love to follow me around

Sounds like maybe the hens kept him from the food or were mean to him. They can be mean sometimes and you dont know it. I have had this happen, are there other roo's in there too? If so that could be the problem too. Sorry not much help here . Good luck..

Sometimes chickens just die, most of the time you don't even know they're sick till they're in really bad shape or dead. He probably just died from shock or he just died, I don't know. Birds hardly ever show that they are sick because they are such easy prey and they know it. Sorry for your loss.

They let him eat and they never pecked him. Maybe he did just die from shock.
It just him and 3 barred rock girls.

I kind of agree with Chatychick..the BR girls might have killed him..even tho they seemed to get along when you were there.

Did not see any droppings. They arnt getting any new b/fs till they are outside
