Today I went out to collect eggs, and for the first time we got five eggs. But one of the eggs was wet, and it seemed to have egg yolk around it. There was no cracks in the eggs in the box, nor was there any remenants of egg shells being eaten by a hen. Is this normal that a chicken will lay an egg without a shell if it is a new layer?

Yes, shell less eggs are pretty normal for point of lay pullets, but hens will also often eat broken eggs, shells and all. If it continues to happen, you may have an egg eater who is purposely cracking them, but any hen will eat an egg that is already broken. Also be sure to check below the roost in the morning - shell less eggs are often laid on an incorrect cycle, so the hen may drop it during the night while roosting.
