Hello,

I have a digital therma-hygrometer without a probe (see pic)
thermohygrometer.PNG

I need to calibrate it as I am incubating tomorrow; can anyone tell me how i can do a test on it to see if the temp. is correct?
I've found plenty of tests for a thermometer with a probe, but not for one without...

Has anyone got any ideas?

You will need to use another thermometer that you know is correct. Put them side by side and then you can see if it’s off

the only other thermometer i have is a meat thermometer (with a probe), and that doesn't include decimals, so it says 37c or 38c etc.

when the incubator says 37.6C, my thermometer says 35.6C
but i've hatched chicks successfully before with the same incubator, and because temp is critical i'm wondering if the thermometer is wrong...

Take a glass fill with ice, fill glass with water. Put probe into ice water and your probe thermometer should read 0*c.
Now you know how far off your probe thermometer is and you can adjust accordingly. Now hold your digital and probe side by side to see how far off your digital may be.
While the perfect temp for incubation is 99.5*F even if your off alittle that will speed up or slow down your hatch. 98.5-100*f won’t hurt anything.

Ok, thanks for all help, i'll do as you suggested!

I also put the thermometer with probe and thermo-hygrometer in the same place in a room;
the probe thermometer read 20C and the digital thermometer read 20.0C

looks ok!

Now you just need to make sure the probe one is correct
