Thermometer/hygrometer recommendations

I don't know which one to trust, that's why I am asking this, mine read different sometimes and I want to know which to go by. But I can tell you the 35.7 Celsius is 96F.

Hmmmm.....good questions. What type of thermometer to use/trust. I just checked my incubator and older model Sportsman 1202 and both thermostats were reading 99.5 F, which is excellent!

I compared my Radio Shack thermometer with the one the GQF sends with the bator. They are the same.

If they don't hatch, I will feel badly.

I've felt badly before.

Still here.

Wow.

Answer for you Folks regarding the 3 gauges,( earlier thread ), Boy em I happy....I called the incubator mftr., they told me how to recalibrate their unit to the Helix....they trust the Helix DBS1000 temp reading....and their unit new is $2,200. Now I'm really happy, I paid $75 for it. I'm still testing....no eggs yet, I want to add a fan and one more air vent hole.
Happy Hatch'en

I have not had good luck with the cheap digital stuff. I calibrated the hygrometer and it was off by 11% (I had also bought an acurite) I calibrated a few red spirit style bulb thermometers and compared them with the acurite and it is almost 5 degrees off. I have switched to lab thermometers. Those I can calibrate in ice water. And I am switching to a mason's hygrometer because it too can be calibrated. There are hygrometers with adjustments in them out there, but I don't have one. I am waiting on a hatch now and after the last one, I am just nervous as a cat hoping my temps are right now.

BTW, if you get a lab thermometer, it needs to be a TOTAL IMMERSION thermometer.

I called Accu-temp and ask what their tolerances are on their digital temp/humidity thingee for $15.00 is. I was told that the "Industry Standards" are 2 degrees temp and 5% humidity....sounds just like being the weather man....he can be wrong and keep his job too. I bought a Radio Shack $20.00 unit yesterday and is showing me 98.3 and my $130 Helix DBS 1000 Thermostat is showing 100 degrees.
So the Radio Shack's product is within the boundary however I don't know if my humidity readings are accurate on it....24% and has been in the incubator for 24 hrs, with a cake pan/sponge in it....I might take a shower and throw my bath towel in it to see what happens.
By the way for you EGG TURNING INVENTORS - Home Depot sell a timer for $18.00 that you can set 15 times per 24 hrs....found it where they have smoke alarms.
Happy Hatch'en Folks

Aren't total immersion thermometers designed to measure liquid temperatures, not air temps?

Just researching and shopping for a thermo/hygro that won't break the bank or my heart
