Speckled Hen-
I see that you put the end of the themometer into a plastic egg. What did you put inside of it? I'm new to all of this. Right now I'm using the water wiggler. I borrowed it from one of my students at school to use in our classroom bator. She wants it back so I've been on the look out for another. I do have an plastic egg so that might solve my problem.
Thanks!

I put silicone in it, but it's a bit denser than what egg yolk would be, at least till a chick forms. Still, it works well. Compared it to an AcuRite probe in a water weasel and the weasel read 3/10 of a degree lower than the plastic egg, so pretty comparable.

A water wiggler/weasel is just a kids junky plastic toy filled with water that they squish back and forth. Mine was called a water weiner, LOL. Cost a dollar or two, depending on where you get it. Walmart usually has it on the aisle with the jacks and the silly putty. It's just a tool to simulate internal temp of an egg, which goes up and down much slower than air temp, but its not necessary.
