Ok, so I have this old fashioned thermometer (you know the one they give you when you buy the incubator) and I also have some others that are terrible. So, I recently bought a Brinsea Spot Check digital thermometer with the probe designed specifically for incubators. The Spot Check is intended to be very accurate to the 0.1 degree F. But here's the thing. The old fashioned thermometer reads like 102 and the Spot check reads 99.5. The last time I hatched I got 4/16 hatched using the old fashioned at 99-100.

I guess my question is, is there a way for the old fashioned thermometer to be slightly off? I thought that they were pretty darn reliable. This time I am not checking all the time, the incubator is upstairs and out of sight (day 14). Does anyone else use this brinsea thermometer?
