I should have thought of telling you to give it a good whack! Good old-fashioned percussive maintenance!

Glad to hear all is well

ETA - You still might want to call the store and see if they would exchange it for a new one. Wouldn't want it to quit working while you aren't around. Just a thought.

(Not sure I would mention dropping it....

No! NO! NO! NO!! NOOO! Take it back NOW! The longer you wait, the more crap they're going to dish out to you when you try to return it! You didn't pay $50 for a POS and you shouldn't be expected to take it in the shorts! If they value your business, they'll be more than happy to exchange it for you. I managed a pet shop years ago, and believe me, I would have much rather have had a customer bring me back the defective unit back ASAP than to sit on it for a week or more. Sooner is much better. And they should take it back regardless of original packaging being with it or not! As another poster said, it will just go into the box of defective returns to go back to the suppliers. I for one don't know why places like PetCo require the original packaging unless it's to put the darn thing right back up on the shelf and pawn their crap off on some other poor unsuspecting customer!

So, do yourself a huge favor! Take the bad one back now and get it exchanged! Tell them...stress to them that you don't want the money back (That always makes retailers much happier to hear!) you just want a functioning unit! You just want to have what you paid for

I agree. Take it back. If you wait then they won't exchange it. If you have the reciept, tell them they can keep teh packaging for the exchange, you don't need another box anyway. You NEED what you paid for - a working item.

Oh, and the reason they need the box, is most manufactureres won't give the store credit for the bad stock item if the packaging isn't returned with the item. I worked at Toys R Us in returns, even the toy companies want the boxes back.

I just got an e-mail from the Zilla customer service (I emailed them last night) and the guy was real apologetic and said that if I email a copy of the reciept he will send me a "replacement unit".

I don't even have to send in the defective one or anything. I am so glad I checked my email before leaving to go to the store.

that is a company to stick with! That is great customer service, and you get to keep the other one as a backup plan!
Coolness. Glad it worked out for you!
