Thermostat trouble

It's kinda sad, but I don't even know what breed my chickens are. I think they are RI Reds. Not sure what the white ones are. I also don't know what breed my Roo is. Maybe someone can help me out. I will post a pic. I do know that the eggs are fertile, and they are developing nicely. They are very difficult to make out the veins, I can only see the size of the dark mass grow, due to the eggs being a dark shell. The reason I know they are developing is because I found one that looked like it had made the least progress, it was kinda dirty, and the shell was porous and dark, so I took a chance and cracked it open hoping to see nothing but a normal yoke. But no, the embryo was there with the veins and what I think was the eye. I felt so bad. I will never do that again.

They are great egg layers, I get 9 eggs a day, from 10 hens. And it's cold here in NH now.

Thanks everyone. I seem to be holding steady temps and humidity now. That's the fun part, experamenting with different things. I'm holding about 40 % humid. And when I put my hatching pan in with sponges I'm getting about 55-65%. I hope this will be good? What do you guys think?

Actually I'd try to get my hatching humidity higher. I'd try for at least 70% -80% It may be a case that you don't need it, but if you do, how are you going to achieve it. It's sure better to know now.

I do the exact same thing as cannedman and it works perfect and for $8 you can't go wrong the key is drilling the holes it makes it more sensitive to heat,I've seen them on eBay some company is calling them incubator stats and trying to sell them for $15.

Where can you buy one for $8?
