My Blue Australorp rooster is doing good with his girls. He is the son of the Splash Australorp shown in my avatar here.

I also have a Wyandotte rooster that is the same age, he mounts his hens like a professional and has a great fertility rate. Dorian (that's the australorps name) tramples them and scratches them and sometimes overbalances face first into the dirt.

All 3 of those are the Blacks. If you are looking to get the blues, check out the color genetics of the parents on them.

I agree my black ones looked like that at hatch as well.

Oh well, we have 10 Australorp eggs in the incubator due to hatch on Monday, maybe some of them will be blue. I wonder if I can convince the Silkie to look after a couple of extras?

What color is your rooster and hens? My Australorp eggs started hatching, and I have 7 of them out already. I got a splash, 5 blues, and a black so far, with more that haven't hatched out yet.
