Yes, they look like RIRs to me.

Your instincts are correct. The roo looks like a RIR, the hens look like generic red hatchery production birds. The floppy combs make me think there's leghorn blood not too far back, added in to boost production. They're great layers and good backyard birds, just not RIR.

My eyes are not what they were 50 yrs ago but if went to a feed
store they might try to pass them off as RIR but to me I cant even
say they have met the standard but I bet these are some great
egg layers .....
Do you have any history on them ???????

I have been giving your photos some time to down load as my
computer is rather slow as satellite is just this way but maybe
someone else can confirm if photo 1 & 2 are not working ...

These are actually my neighbors birds im not sure where they got them but I had a rir before and she was very dark. They are 3 years old and not one is laying right now. Lol

The rooster looks like a Rhode Island Red, but the hens look like "production reds" ("red" birds that hatcheries sell-- great layers, but not really purebred).

That's very normal for hens to not be laying this time of year, especially older than first winter birds. They need to take a break sometime!

Yeah. None of mine are laying either. Im lucky to get an egg or two a week. Lol

The hens look like Production Reds and the rooster is a Rhode Island Red.

And some of the hens look pretty pale in the comb, so they wont be laying. When their combs get all waxy red, they will start laying laying again. The shorter daylight hours can be supplemented with a light to give them the 12+ hours of light they need to keep laying.
