what do you think??

buff orpington
barred plymouth rock
silver or golden laced wyandotte
speckled susex
easter egger
salmon faveralle

pic only four that you would think and pretty good layers, and a breed that you would find at a feed store.....THANKS!!!!

Not sure how good of layers the sussex or faverolles are. I don't like orps, so they wouldn't be my choice. I love barred rocks. EEs are extremely variable in temperament and appearance. All are (or can be) very attractive. Faverolles have a great reputation, but I doubt you';re likely to find them at a feed store.

yea that was what i was thinking. would you rfind ees at a feed store??? i want KIND OF a color ful basket

Barred Rock, Buff Orp, SL Wyandotte and IF you can find them...speckled sussex.

I got mine as a packing peanut in an order...but I LOVED my speckled sussex.

I would pick Orps, SLW, EE's and BR!

The feed stores may have the EE's but they would most likely be labeled as Araucanas or Ameraucanas!

I've had Orps before and they were really nice, and good Layers too.

I'd go with those, or the Wyandottes (I'm getting some of those this year :>)

my wyandoties do real well laying and they are so pretty i have both silver and golden

Ameraucanas and Easter Eggers are NOT the same thing at all. Ameraucanas ONLY lay blue eggs, and are pure bred chickens that is extremely unlikely to be found at a feed store. Easter Eggers may lay blue, green, olive, pinkish and I've even heard lavender (although for the life of me I can't come up with any genetic combination that could cause that to happen) eggs.

Ameraucanas are a breed recognised by both the APA and ABA; Easter Eggers are cross breeds; have no standard and are not recognised as a breed by any poultry organization.
