I posted a bit ago about our new chicks that were sold as New Hampshire Reds but I wasn't sure if they were. Now they are about 3 weeks old, I can tell two definitely are not and I'm still not sure about the others. I'm also questioning about their gender...the feed store we got them from said they were pullets (with 90% accuracy)...but if they're not even the breed they were sold as, I'm concerned! Especially since some of them are getting their combs and wattles already. I know it's still too young to tell gender though. Anyway as they're getting older I thought it'd be fun to post pictures of them now and see if anyone has any guesses on their breed/gender?
Chick 1 is definitely not a New Hampshire Red but I have no idea what it could be. Smallest of the bunch.
Chick 2 has kind of similar coloring but with yellow legs. Also probably not a New Hampshire Red! One of the largest chicks.
Chick 3 has been the slowest to develop, all the others grew tail/wing feathers before this one. Still lots of down compared to the others but is the largest chick.
Chick 4 looks a bit more like a New Hampshire Red? Chicks 4, 5 and 6 all look pretty similar.
Chick 5 had a similar "chipmunk" pattern as chick 2 when they were younger but now they don't look that similar.
Chick 6 looks really similar to 4 so it's hard to tell them apart sometimes.
