They’re Finally Out!!

Just shy of 5 weeks, and nicely feathered. 52 tonight, warming every night from here on. I gave them their heat lamp if they need it. It’s just nice to have the garage back. They get the run in 3 or 4 days. The jealous dog is really happy!

Congrats! Chicks sure do get dusty, lol

They really don't need heat at this point, so I'd work on getting them weaned off of it.

I'm curious, how it would have worked if you'd just have a broody hen raise them? Would they have separated from her by this time, or still follow her around until adult if you weren't doing heat lamps?

How would it compare?

How many chicks did you have? 52 is kind of low for CA...unless you are up north?

The weather sure is weird around now too over much of the US. Its going to be a cold year.

102 by Wednesday. Chili tonight, but I just checked on them and they're doing fine. They can have the lamp for a few more days, but temps are rising so they wont need it much longer. Then they have to deal with the dreaded darkness at night. Sucks to be a chick!!!!!
