They came out of the postal box lively thank goodness. All 13 so far, 24 hr later seem fine. They are so fast I really can’t get a good look at the individual. No pasty butts so far. It upset them when I had to remove them from brooder to a box for a few minutes to clean but they settled in when put back. Is it too early to take them out and sit on floor with them this afternoon for a little while? It’s almost 90 degrees outside. Also beside Neosporin is there anything I should have on hand for first aid? I saw nail clippers on a list of must haves. Am I supposed to cut their nails??? They would surely hate me .

It's unlikely you'll need to trim nails. If the need arises later, you can worry about picking up a spare trimmer then.

I swear I don't have half the stuff on that chart lol. I do have a lot of stuff that's not listed, like epsom salts and Vetricyn.

IMO for the most part it's better to pick up items as you need them, as everything from medications to water additives all have expiration dates. Things that don't expire, like vet wrap, are fine to keep on hand.

Congratulations on your chicks! In addition to everything else you have listed, it helps to have Blu-Kote for wounds and to help stop pecking and chicken-dedicated soft washcloths and small towels (just in case they get pasty butt (to clean and dry), to help clean them, etc.

We've never needed to trim our chickens' nails. They free range during the day in a small backyard orchard that has some concrete stairs. I think that keeps their nails under control.

Good luck!
