I cought my new chicks (about 3 months old) eating mold off the bottom of my fence, should I be worried?

I know moldy food will cause severe problems and death! I'd keep them away from the mold ... and use some diluted bleach water to kill the mold... keep babies away from fence until dry.

Yes, definitely! I would get them away from the mold, and treat any fence posts/what-have-you as it can make them quite sick or kill them.
