My ladies have always been fairly quiet, only clucking when one has a goody and the others are jealous, sometimes at night. But nothing major. All of a sudden they are SUPER loud! Last night my Delaware went to "bed" and was squawking for the others (she's the boss, I guess) and the neighbors behind us (it's a senior apartment complex) were all "what was that? I've never heard that before!" I said I was sorry it was my hen and they just laughed. I hope it doesn't bother them.
Is there a certain age where they get extra mouthy? I'm afraid of what she'll sound like when she's laying! My younger girls just started clucking (they were cheepers until about a week ago) but I don't think that means anything.
Maybe she's just a chatty Cathy??
