I just picked them up from the PO. I ordered 19 & they sent me 20. I got an extra BO. Oh & my free rare breed chick is a buff brahma...love his fuzzy little feet. They all seem to be doing good. I had a little temp problem, I bought 2 thermometers & 1 was saying 85 & the other 101.....figures. So I put them in thier tank & they seemed to be piling up on each other, so I lowered the lamp a little & now some are running around bonkers, some are haning out at the water & then a few are trying so hard to stay awake but are passing out (must have been a long trip). One of the GLW seems to be a little bit older as it has some wing feathers where the rest just have fuzzy nubs. Also, one of the BR is huge, almost double the size of the other ones but he is fuzzy like the others.

I also have a question...One of the Barred Rock babies seems to be a bully, it is attacking the other chicks. If one gets too close he charges it & starts to peck at the other ones head. It must hurt the other ones because they let out a sharp cheep. Is this something I need to worry about or do you think it will calm down once he settles in? Is it possibly just stressed because of the trip?

There has been a couple of posts on aggressive BR"s . I have 2 4week old's that seem a little more aggressive. I kind of thought it might be the pecking order thing.. I don't know. Keep an eye on them and the other posts. But most of all~ Have fun

Look at those beauties! I love the freebie! She's adorable.

One suggestion for your waterer is to put some marbles or 3/4 inch stone in the water so they don't accidentally drown (they can tire out so quickly they can fall asleep in their water)

Enjoy the new babies! They grow too fast!!!
