They did it! I guess we hold off on cooking duck!

Hope I'm doing things right then. My two Rouens started laying about 2 or 3 weeks ago I believe and I have a heat lamp I will turn on for them if it gets below freezing...and it has been a lot lately. I wouldn't want to overwork them but I don't want them to freeze either.
Honestly you can do more to hurt their health by using a heat lamp on them, Ducks wear down and are quite capable of keeping themselves toasty warm, as long as they have adequate shelter . Plenty of fresh water to drink and good fresh feed and they are good to go.
 
If your ducks where hatched late spring early summer probably not till following spring, but there are exceptions.
I don't know when she was hatched. She was laying in spring and hatched ducklings at the end of spring/early summer. I'm talking about the mother of my ducklings. I had to remove the ducklings from her.
Is the mother likely to start laying again, or will I have to wait till spring again.

Probably spring.
