They follow me around the yard

Mine know where the "treat bag" is. (scratch), so when I let them out to free range and they decide they are done, they haul their fluffy butts over to the shed where I keep the treats. Then they follow me back to their run to get the good stuff.

And they holler at me everytime I come out the door of my house. Whatcha got for me?

I have to agree, it is hilarious to be walking around with a bunch of chickens running after you. I especially love it when they follow my 6 year old, and so does he.

They will even follow my husband and he has NEVER fed them.

What's funny is when my outside dog follows me to the compost pile also. The chickens know (at least I would think so by now) that he is top dog and gets first dibs.

But they try anyway. He just gives one low growl and they wait by the sidelines. But they try again next time! I guess there's always hope that one day he'll say -ok, you go first!- hahaha.

Mine will come up to the backporch and look through the glassdoor waiting for a treat. They absolutely love Cheerios, Oats and cooked white rice. I had to cover my compost pile with chicken wire to keep them out (horses too). My contributions to the pile where being gobbled up, at that rate nothing would be in there long enough to decompose..lol I know they are only using me for treats but it does make me feel good that they will come when I use a certain "chick call". Maybe I should try it on my kids:D

I was worried also that the girls and roo were eating up all my compost until DH told me that they make good compost when they poop! So I thought, well there it is! They've processed it for me!

I definately get their "donations" to the compost pile since they stand on top of the chicken wire roof I have over it. I think they're plotting a Mission Impossible entry, I can hear them whispering when I walk away from putting scraps in the pile.
