It never hurts...my chicks are just 3 months old though!

This is why I now wear rubber boots into the run & coop. hehe. I live in central/southern/western coast of Florida, so you will RARELY find me wearing anything but flip flops. But when I go in the run, its galoshes all the way.

I always ware some sort of foot covering when out with my girls. Only because I don want to step in any poop. However they love to peck or pull I'm not sure which, on my leg and arm hairs. My EE loves to hop on my arm and perch. All of this is normal. They live your feet because that's the closest part of your body then can get. You are their meal ticket and they in their own way get your attention for their treats.

last night we had a bbq- i had left the bbq lid open (you have to realize that this happened in a split second)...
my kids were in the pool saw me bbqing ...
i went in the house with my food...- one of my cats must have smelled the meat that i had just cooked, and jumped up on the grill-(it was off at this point, but my kids didnt know that)-
to add to the story both chickies were in the yard...
ok so my daughter and son see the cat on the bbq- fly out of the pool screaming at the cat to get down- my dog who is lying next to the grill- looks up sees the cat hears the kids yelling and gets all excited- so he chases the cat...between the dog and cat is one of the chickens who gets caught up in the chase- she dosnt know what to do so she comes running in the house- followed by the cat and dog.
the chicken knows its not supposed to be in the house and does a u-turn out the door- flapping and squawking the whole time.
my son who is now afraid of the chickens since they started pecking at his feet is now standing between the chicken flying out of my house and its friend who is flying around the yard upset by all the yelling...
so now my son thinks the chicken is running after him and he (ive never seen him run so fast) high tails it back to the pool and jumps in to get away from the chicken-
a classic night at my house!!!

when they go after my feet, i try to "pet" them on their backs.
they get it.
I am in charge!

My hens peck at my painted toenails, my wedding ring, and I have a rooster that tries to mate with my foot!... creepy!
