They hatched 13! American Buff geese

Our trio of American Buff geese hatched 13 out of 13 eggs this year! Well, actually, the 2 females did the hatching but the gander did his part, too. The females sat on one nest together like siamese twins. I thought they would end up not hatching any that way, but they did a fine job.

Here they are at a little over 2 months. It was already a little hard to tell the goslings from the parents!


We found out that 16 geese can really mess up a driveway quickly! We had to put up a 2 foot fence to keep them away from it.

Congrats! I hope my trio does so well next year. My 2 geese will be yearlings. My gander will be 2 next year.
 
Don't be discouraged if they don't do really well the first year. This is the 3rd year that my geese have worked at hatching and they have gotten better at it each year!
