How big of a box are you keeping 50 of them in? I was going to run down to Lowes in a week or two and see if they'd give me a great big fridge box or something similar. I'm only getting 25, but they're my first meat birds

Yes you will need a box big enough I have 2 big boxes put together and have allready changed the litter 2x it is just full of doopie Tomarrow I may Just have them out in the sand of the coop I'm not sure cause the nights have been cold and I don't want them to die But I have 2 lamps going now so , so far so good and we have had a few real cold nights so far in the 30 but tonight is 65
I just Like the Big box so they don't have to crush each other to be warm

Is this your first time with broiler chicken? They wont crush each other if there is plenty of heat. I think 6sq in per chick untill they are 2 weeks old then i move them to the chicken house where they get about 4sq ft per bird untill harvest at 6to 8weeks
