Hi everyone, so I have this one chick I'm pretty worried about. Her name is Joy, and the chick the same age as her is Hope. Now, Hope and Joy are the youngest in our flock as they are five months old and our nesting boxes are at the top part of the coop, with a ramp leading up to them. They're the insulated and the warmest part of our coop. The problem is that since Hope and Joy are the youngest, they would always be pushed out to an area that is exposed to wind and the elements. Not long ago, we rehomed our cockerel and Hope was allowed in but that makes me even more worried because now Joy is alone with nights that are commonly below freezing. We'll sometimes put her up and she'll immediately be pushed out.

Basically, I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas of how to get Joy up there with everyone else. Thanks!

Hello!

Sometimes you just have to let them work out their hierarchy. It can be hard to watch and not interfere but it is part of the natural pecking order.

If you provide a pic of your coop, it might help so we can come up with ideas if you're worried about drafts.
