Watching Chicken TV...
Yup and I have no idea how they caught it! I looked out the window to see my RIR with something in her mouth running away from the others. I thought it was a frog or lizard but when she came closer I noticed it was a bird! I ran out there, caught her, and realized it was a hummingbird!! :hit I have seen them eat frogs but didn't realize that they ate other birds! Learn something new every day with these chickens!

Wow! Mine catch frogs, toads, moles, mice, grasshoppers, flies out of the air...but I've never seen em catch a bird! Do you have a cat? I have seen mine with a bird my cat caught, then they snatched. They ate it

Chickens are NOT picky. If they can catch it, they will find a way to eat it

Yes we do have a cat but she doesn't go where we have the chickens as we have a dog back there!
Haha yup, they will eat anything they can catch I guess! :gig

Oh and thank you! BYC is very helpful and fun! :D

Oh wow! The squirrels that have lived in my yard have become upset after I got chickens, they throw nuts and sticks at us all the time now. They better watch out, they might get eaten by a chicken. That would be really gross and a bit sad, so I hope hey stay in the trees.

Oh, a squirrel would be really sad! :( We have them too but maybe they are too big for chickens to eat. :fl
It's funny to think of squirrels throwing sticks and acorns at the chickens! I haven't ever seen anything like that! :p

I've never seen it either until now. I have been buying them corn and peanuts for years, and they even have a feeder at the back on my property. Now that the chickens are running around the yard, they became upset by it. When I go out to work, they throw little sticks and nuts down. They throw quite hard to, i always hear a thud and then i see it, lol.

Cute pic, I had to share this! A baby squirrel appeared in my chicken run, my rooster and the girls ignored it, it was hopping all over, eating and digging around. They would give it a small look and continue on. It has been there all this evening and it seems to be spending the night in some hay sitting in the run. Unbelievable. If it's still there tomorrow i will take a pic. Update: The baby was cold this morning so i caught it with a dish towel and warmed it up, it fell asleep when i was holding it! I got it to climb a tree, it stayed about 7 ft up for about 3 hours, i went on youtube and played a baby squirrel crying for a few minutes. Almost an hour later it was gone, I think the mom found it, though im not sure how she lost it in the first place.
