Someone told me today that buff orpingtons lay 3-4 eggs/day. He *is* crazy, right? I mean, my understanding was that it takes at least 24 hrs for an egg to be ready to lay. I know, particularly with pullets that are just beginning to lay, there can be eggs with more than one yolk, no yolk, two shells, etc., but this guy's claims seem to be beyond the "normal" oddities. If they really laid that many eggs a day, why would anybody keeping chickens for the eggs raise any other breed?
