They never taught me this in school-------

Nowadays someone is always trying to re-write history to prove what bad people our Founding Fathers were. While ALL were human, all were divinely inspired in their duties as Patriots.
Those who try and show only the human frailty and faults are............evil in my book.
No matter the problems we as a nation are going through, we still have the most freedom and live in the BEST PLACE ON EARTH!!
I've been lucky enough to visit a lot of the globe while serving in the Navy. I enjoyed most places I visited, would go back to a few. But NOT one stacks up to the USA!! We still can walk the streets without permission or being stopped and questioned, we can still bear arms, (to keep government in line if need be) and we can still speak freely.

For now. Precisely why it's important that we not only remember the fireworks on this day, but also remember WHY we're celebrating. Actually KNOW what document was signed this day (and September 17) and know how to use it to keep this country free... the way it was supposed to be.

AMEN TO THAT

Ever wonder why, when someone, anyone, starts talking about Freedom, Patriotism, and such, that most everyone seems to go away. Or won't speak up. You're considered an agitator or worse, a bigot.
Well, I ain't goin' away folks!!

BTW, I'm none of the above. Just trying to get people to think AND act.

Boy ain't that the truth? My MIL looks at me like I've got a fungus on my nose or something.

But, I think I'm wearing my FIL down... it's hard to step out of your comfort zone, and hard to realize the folks you've given your trust to have betrayed you... I know that myself, been there done that, so I can understand folks hesitancy to branch out... if you keep your head in the sand you don't have to face those things... or face that you elected the people who got us in this mess... personal responsibility for your choices can be a very rough road to take, but I believe it is the right road... hence being a Libertarian... and accepting that my choice gets me the fungus look...

Well said and AMEN!

“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom,
go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you.
May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”

- Samuel Adams, August 1, 1776 at the Philadelphia State House

In most of America, people will stand in a group and say "Someone should do something!"

You could let them sit there for years and none of them would ever have the courage to even think to stand up and say "And that someone is me."

Anytime someone says the first phrase, they should finish it with the second.

Boy do I know what you mean. I went to the PO one day and a man with a hat, that I won't say what was on it, stoped me and started complaining for about 10 minutes. I said when you done complaining and really want to do something let me know I'll be right there with you. I gave him my business card with my phone numbers on it but I have never heard from him.

But anyway I hope everyone that a good 4th of July, we had no picnic, we just sat at home and watched the flag blow in the wind.

I've been amazed at how much false history I learned in school. We've been taught so many lies, lies, lies. I am finding homeschool curriculum to be way more factual. Even these publishers can only put so much in a book, tho. It's up to us to find out the truth. I was amazed to learn recently how much loyalty and devotion that some slaves had for their owners! And when freedom came for them, some did not leave their plantations. Some stayed for the remainder of their lives with their former owners! Apparently these bonds they had were that strong and slaves were considered a part of the family in some instances. Some slaves even took the last name of their owners. Now that is history worth knowing!
