Of course, that is what BYC is for. If you cook lentils or chickpeas for your birds, no need to throw out the water. Pour it on your grains once its cooled, preserve the nutrients in it, so you don't lose anything. The heat breaks down some things in the legumes that are either unhelpful or bad for your birds - you aren't using hot water to wash it away, so no reason to throw it out.

But if you are submerging your grains to ferment them, the hot water can is bad for the lactobacillus needed to ferment them. Cool to room temp first. Assuming you make your own Injira, a bit of the mother/starter from that can help ensure the right bacteria are colonizing your chicken feed.
