My silkie hens either lay to the left or right of the nesting box. As silkies, they don't like to roost either and would rather they lay eggs in a cleaner area like the nesting box. I've put golf balls in there as well and no go. Here is a pic, should I change the nesting area up some how?

Is the shadow area always a little darker? I’d be tempted to move box so opening is toward the stick on the floor, and shoved all the way into the corner.

Also what are the dimensions of the nest box? Appears it might be too shallow front to back. Shoot for 12”x12” minimum. My girls really like 15x17.

Hey there! The nesting box is at least 12" deep. As silkies, they are tiny so they sit in there nicely. Maybe I should put it opposite the big window to the left so they get more light or possibly paint the inside white?

No problem. Also, middle of the wall is a human aesthetic look. If you leave a cubby between the wall and the ‘box’ a chicken will use it.
