Everyone, please understand that everyone has a different situation than yourself and we each have our own opinions on what dogs do and do not like. We have had both an outdoor and an indoor/outdoor dog and the outdoor dog was just fine and even happier outside. The indoor dog also loved to be outside at night. Every dog is different and every household is different. No one said their dogs aren't a part of thier family or that they don't love their dogs as much as you do. So please, everyone just drop the whole "dogs are happier if kept inside/outside" issue and leave it as "every dog and situation is different". Remember, this thread is about how to get the dogs to stop barking (and suggesting bringing them inside is fine, saying they are barking because they aren't happy outside is unessisary) and we don't want to get it locked!

fine but I don't think I am the only one who suggested that so I am not sure why you are singling me out.

But thanks for your input.

I'm sorry, I only singled you out because your posts were the most noticable to me and you posted the most, which helped me remember who you were. I will edit out your name. I knew I shouldn't have posted it quite like that but couldn't for the life of me figure out a better way. Again, I am truly sorry.

NO problemo. I will stay out of this thread since I don't have anything more helpful thatn what I have already shared.

Of course it would because that's what it's used to.

I have 6 dogs. Two live in all the time, three live out all the time and one comes in at night to sleep in a crate because she barks... problem of barking at night solved. The three that live out do occasionally get to come in but PREFER to be out.

Horsefly, we have tried everything with the barker. Shock collar, wearing her out, treats and toys... other types discipline that just did not work. Finally the only solution was to crate her at night in the house because she is not house trained. It works great. She thinks the crate is one of her outside dog houses and she sleeps all night.

No more barking
