They won't use the roost. What can i do??

My girls were probably 6 months old, and still sleeping on the coop floor. I was bound and determined that they would sleep on the roosts (and poop on the poop board). I would go out after dark with a very small flashlight and put them on the roost. Didn't have much problems with them jumping back off. After about 2 weeks a couple went up on their own. It took about a month total to get them all up there without my help. I did put a small cinder block in as a step. May or may not have helped. Once the rooster went up on his own, the rest followed. It's much easier to clean the coop now that the "bird brains" are all sleeping in their spot.
