They're hatching!!!!! UPDATED W/NEW PICS! DUW

OEGB, ok so maybe it's a stupid question, but i doubt it is the worst thing i've asked lol.

How do snake eggs incubate without a incubator? I wouldn't expect it to be like a broody hen so...

If your house doesnt get too cold, they'll incubate on their own. Generally you want them in temps around 80 but as long as it isnt like 60 degrees they should still develop and hatch, I think.

Madisonnnnnnnnn! I was waiting for you to see this!

Thanks! Im so excited, and I have 4 babies! My twins have hatched and 2 others. All normals, haha. OOOOO, get fires! Hypo Lavs are more common, and Fires are just awesome! Alsooooooooo, one of these babies wants to come live with you! Im going to the show in Sacramento this September, maybe we can meet up and you can take a snake home!

Daniel, that's definitely not a stupid question! No question is stupid, you're just bettering your knowledge for the future! Like Madison said, my house is pretty warm. They dont need high temps like poultry, and it doesnt have to stay at one steady temp throughout the incubation. Its best to, obviously, but they're hatching just fine! Im going to go update my first post with some new pics!

ohh, ok. They're a lot bigger than i expected considering the size of the eggs (or how they look at least..). Im terrified of snakes but these litttle guys (or girls) are kinda cute.

Yeah I've decided to go with Fires. I think they'd sell better than Hypo Lavs anyway because noobs might just see them as pretty snows anyway. Where as everyone wants bright red snakes lol.

I would so snag one of your babies if I had room Jordan D: But once I get a pair of fires, I'm going to be up to 5 snakes and I really can't fit any more if I use the snake rack I'm planning on getting.

OH YEAH are you going to the big show in San Jose next month? Please say you are! I'm so going to be there early! I saw pics from last year and there was a line a MILE long before they opened the doors. I'm gonna camp out. And then run inside. And steal any fires that happen to be there. I'm also about to look up what breeders are listed as going to be there and email them and ask if they even breed fires so that I can plan accordingly.

I'll try to go to the Sac one, though if I get my pair of fires I might not because I'll be too tempted to get something if I drive 3 hours up there in the first place LOL

Beautiful pics! I love to watch snakes go about their business, wandering, slithering about & stalking prey. I *used* to keep snakes, mostly insect eatters because they are smaller, & less expensive to feed.

DH was terrified of them.

So, they had to find a new home.

Thanks, Daniel! Yeah, they're really crammed in there, lol. Its amazing how big they start out, but they're still so tiny compared to the rest I have!

Good choice with the fires, Madison. I've got a trio of normals het Hypo, possible het Lav but now that I know about all of the different morphs, I wish I had gotten something more exciting. I love those 3 though, I wouldnt give them up for anything. Awwww dang! I wish you could take one, it would be awesome! S'all good though. I wouldnt take up room with a normal when I could get some amazing morphs either! I keep telling myself no more normals and amels, and I keep winding up with more!

When is San Jose? Its not in my plans, but maybe I can talk my sister and her fiance into taking a trip there. We were planning on going to Anaheim but something came up that weekend, so we're going to Sacramento. I'll mention San Jose to them and see what they say. I would definitely email the breeders ahead though. It would be best if they could save any they have for you, just so you dont have to elbow the heck outta people, haha. Hum Hum, you should definitely make the trip to Sac! It was way better than San Jose, and there was a breeder there with a huge display of Beaded Lizards! Who doesnt want to see one of the two venomous species of lizards in the world!??

Thanks, Mrs. G! I love that as well. Its so awesome watching a snake swallow a mouse, just seeing how they move their mouth forward to grab it with their teeth and drag it back. That's awesome! What did you raise? Sorry you had to rehome them! My parents and siblings are anti-snake, so Im really lucky to be able to keep mine.

Thanks, BR!

Also, Baby #5 is out of the egg!

oh my god, drool with me over this snake:
Champagne_Pink_Cornsnake_Minstrel_Jun08.jpp

That's from the website of the only breeder that specializes in corns that is listed as a vender o nthe SJ show's website. She also breeds fires, so I emailed her.
I'd so be down with some bright pink corns, though. But I bet I couldn't afford them even if I wanted too.
