They're Here!

I picked up our white Silkie trio this morning from a local guy that works with my dh.

They have been named Becky(largest pullet), Bonnie(smaller pullet) and Benny(the little roo). My 7yo named them lol. She asked for help for Bonnie's name, but definitely wanted a B name.

We have just a few things to finish on the combo coop/tractor, which we will finish this weekend.

I've never been around Silkies before, their chirp and sounds are so neat!

They are very cute & sweet looking.

I saw some silkies at Rural King last weekend and was so tempted to bring some home, since I don't have any in my flock. I was a good girl and resisted.

They were just hatched and were so, so tiny. My dh went there again today and I called him while he was there to ask if they had any babies left and he quickly said NO. LOL!!!!!

This is my first experience with Silkies. The noises they make are awesome! Not like the LF mix of chicks I had 15+ years ago.

You can tell how tiny they are, they aren't even as tall as the 2x4 on their cage that is turned on its side. They can't jump up to the shelf with the nest boxes yet lol. I imagine in just a few short days, they'll get up there, though.

They do make the strangest noises. I have a roo who likes to talk to the corner, growl, he makes me laugh.
How do you know the sex of them so early?

The guy I bought them from raises them and is "pretty" sure he got me a trio. He's had them for years, so I assume he's decent at sexing.
