My girls are reluctant to spend much time outside the coop in the run to eat and drink because of all the heavy rain and wind
If I locked them out of the coop for a bit to make sure they eat/drink/excersize would that be okay for them?

Hello :)
It is miserable weather here today too my girls are snuggled up together on their perches. I noticed you are in Australia too, are you on the east coast? My suggestion is to leave them there and they will come out when they want to for a feed and a drink. I hope this weather goes away soon and this has helped :)

I'm on the central coast of NSW, about an hour or so away from sydney so it's veeerrry windy, I guess I'll leave it up to them to not die.

I'm in Colorado, USA...everytime the sky goes dark, the chickens stick close to the hen house, most of them stay in the covered run, some go inside. I leave it up to them as they free range all day. Sometimes when its very hot and it rains they stay out in it....but if there is lightning, and/or thunder, in they go. I just got them in March and so I have not observed them in winter weathers yet.
