I have several girls all just over a year old, one of them has recently started laying super thin shelled eggs. Like breaks in the laying process thin. Any ideas on what could be causing it? They are all on a layer feed with calcium and have access to oyster shells free choice. This has been going on for about a month and a half, it seems to be only one girl all other egg shells are super strong.

Sincerely Victoria

If you know which hen it is, give her a calcium citrate tablet +D3 once a day for a week and see how she goes. The kind you get at a drug store is fine. Easiest to administer at night on the roost after dark. Just pop it in her beak, she'll swallow it even though it looks like a horse pill. Sometimes the D helps them to absorb the calcium and get things squared away. Report back and let us know how she does.
