having a problem with thin shells, lots of broken eggsd. I have been supplying oyster shells, mixed in food and in a seperate bowl. anyone know of something i can maybe add to the water instead?

yes the chickens NEED gut flora and absorbing the calcium and Vit D

this is done by putting
3 tbsp of ACV in gallon of water for a week
then put just two tbsp of ACV for rest of the time
except when medicating the chickens

I would make a
wet mash for them with calcium crushed in it

1 qt of dry crumbles
1-1/2 qt of whole milk
1/2 cup of yoiguart
4 -1000 mg of calcium tablets crushed in cup and added to the wet mash
feed this daily in morning so as to build up thier intake of calcium

after they eat it
clean wet feeders and restock regular laying mash
any questions email me

I have nice thick shells from my birds, except for my white EE hens. Their eggshells are extremely thin, and for a while were really wrinkled.

They are on layer feed, oyster shell available, and they pasture range all day. Same treats as others.

That was my first thought, but.....

So why is everyone but the 2 EE's laying eggs with thick shells? They all have free access to crushed eggshell.
