Hey all,
I got a pair of Barred Rock birds at 25+ weeks old. No eggs but no crowing either (well, one does try to sound like a goose now and then). I do have another Barred Rock roster who does runs the whole flock.

Judging by the saddle feathers they seem to be pointy.

Roo candidate #1

Roo Candidate #2

Both sets of saddle feathers look pointy to me.

What do y'all think?

the birds pictured are no doubt, 100%, roosters

One of my babies, formerly known as Elaine/now known as "E" looks exactly the same. He is a quiet, gentle guy (which I've heard is true of Barred Rock Roosters?) so we'll keep him around. I was very sad when I first saw the saddle feathers; he would be a beautiful hen.

Cock-a-doodle-roo!
