Thing you like most about chickens

I love it when a chick of about six weeks of age stands on one of my shoes if I am in one spot, not walking. Thts the clue I am supposed to pick it up. Which I do.

I love the happy trill of snuggly chicks. It's such a musical sound.

I love when my most talkative hen walks with me, telling me all about her day. Hen gossip! We have conversations, honestly. "Buk buk buk buk buk." Oh, really? "Buk. Buk BUK buk.". No, she didn't!?!? "Buk buk bukbukbukbukbuk. Bawk!"

If I say, "Berk?" she will cock her head and look at me askance, then continue. "Buk! Buk bah buk buk bukbukbukbuk."

I love it when my dominant rooster Carl brings me gifts (which I cannot accept, but I still love the gesture). He is so cute and endearing when he offers me a small pebble or leaf, puts it at my feet, pushes it with his beak and looks up at me from his bent over position.

I love the gift of their eggs.

I love the way their feathers smell when I bury my face in them as I hold a chicken.

I love the bug free yard, thanks to their work!

I love to watch as my Great Dane try to decide if he wants to bark at the chickens through the fence. Awww, big dog is afraid of the little chicken. My Brahma will stand eye to eye with him on the board they use to exit the coop and they have a stare off. A few days ago just as Samson was about to bark, Annie let out a bock that scared him back a few feet. She never backed down and never moved from her position. Love her and the way she protects the other hens as if she were the rooster in charge.

I love the conversations I have with Askew. She's always in my lap asking me about my day and she tells me about hers.
