Last summer my younger cousin Brett came to our house, and was eager to see the chickens

so I took funkey out ,

some back ground on Brett is that he loves to and is good at catching bugs, that chicken relized this

and followed him around the yard

until I put him up. Ah Summer Memmories

I have learned that this is more the norm... But I was really surprised/grossed out to see a hen lay a shell-less egg and have a pack of chickens go crazy cleaning it up!

This topic is too hilarious. We are new to chickens, having gotten our day old chicks the last week of July, 25 RIRs. But in response to post # 41, my DH figured out pretty quickly that dying in the chicken coop would not be a good thing as those guys would quickly go to town on you.

I have been enjoying these stories! A couple days ago, our chickens gave chase to Max, one of our barn cats. Big tough Max, who hangs with the chickens, must have done something to tick them off. Next thing I know, between the hens and our three guineas, Max was up a tree looking down at them like, "What the heck happened here?" It was quite a sight! Wish I had my camera with me at the time!

In the past couple of days they have tried to kill and eat a couple of sparrows that inadvertently got into their run.
