Fortunately my sue ded microfiber sofa has a slip cover on it. Which is washable.

Ha! I could always tell when one of my chicks had escaped the brooder, wandered around in the middle of the night, then flown back in. There was a poop trail on the tile floor in the room where I kept the brooder!

They would jump out a lot!
This is actually one of the times I caught them!

You've got the photographic evidence! I thought it was funny that they'd fly out, explore, then return home. I'd never have known but for the poop!
