Things your hometown is famous for . . . .

Chicken_D where are you? I am over here toward Sort of between Fredericksburg, Culpeper and Charlottesville.

Where I live is famous for the Battle of the Wilderness and on the corner at my driveway is a historical marker because this is where Lafayette camped and made the plans that turned Cornwallis around in the Revolutionary War.

The home of President James Madison, the Father of the Constitution, Montpelier was the Madison family homestead for more than three generations.

St. Thomas Episcopal Church, which was copied after Thomas Jefferson's only ecclesiastical work, is noted for its stained glass windows, including one by Tiffany, as well as for the fact that Robert E. Lee and other Confederate officers worshipped here during the winter of 1863-64.

Ellwood plantation is the resting place of Stonewall Jacksons arm and served as a Confederate hospital and later as the headquarters of three Union generals during the Civil War.

It is also the birthplace of President Zachary Taylor.

Just to name a few

MissPrissy,

Been through that area several times, it is full of history and a beautiful part of Virginia. I’m located in Bedford County near Lynchburg.

I live in Oregon City, OR, home of The End of the Oregon Trail.
We are famous for lots of things, mostly pioneer history and settlements.

At one time Oregon City was the capitol of the Northwest territories which stretched from California up into Canada. The city plan for San Francisco was filed in Oregon City.
The history is just too rich to post at one time.

Slatington PA is well known for the production of Slate. We have lots of quarries and that's where most old timers have worked their whole life.

Also, not far south of here is one of the big Steel industries - Bethlehem Steele.

That's about all I can think of for here, but PA has lots of historical parks and amusements - I just don't get time to enjoy them.
