Yes and no. For any given breed, one color earlobe is considered correct and one is considered wrong. But sometimes a chicken will have the "wrong" ear color for their breed. So they definitely exist, but according to the breed standard they are not correct. For that study, when I go skim-read the text, they had quite a few with white earlobes, even though that is "wrong" for the breed. Earlobe color has no effect on egglaying ability, so it might get ignored in a commercial flock, which is probably what happened here.

I agree, yet it's still really interesting and something I'll be looking for once I start breeding an actual line. Right now, they're just my pets as a first time chookie owner.. I've had to learn a hell of a lot the hard way, fast.. so I'm ready for the challenge.
I've spent more time online today than I should, but I've found a list of rare chicken breeders in NZ, one I actually know, she's got barred rocks but I don't like those.. I'm liking the white rocks, and the leghorns so I'm going to work with those for pure lines as well as a crossed line an use Teenie and Goldie as a third line.. once I've found some land to lease.. I may be jumping in too hard but I never do anything by halves lol

Also 247T34 now has a name. Her name is Waffles.

This is Bumblefeather a hen the same age as Mr noisy.

Seeing the two sets of wings together like that makes it easier to see the difference.. bumblefeather's feathers are rounded, where Mr noisys are more pointed.. going by Their similarities, that's how you'll be able to sex them.
You're right about wing sexing harder on those

I don't think Mr noisy is a boy. He /she does not look like there brothers.
